12th Group Completed the Third Module

On September 1-3, 2019, the twelfth group (G12) of the third season of the “Tomorrow’s Lawyer” Program completed the third module of the Program.

Lawyers carried on improving their communication skills – this time within the legal community.

The trainer of the module was Svitlana Savchuk, a certified business coach with 15 years of experience in business education. She was assisted by Roman Shpyrka, a graduate of the Season II of the Program, trainer of the Free Legal Aid System. Roman has passed a training for trainers (ToTs) to develop the skills of working with vulnerable groups of clients of the Free Legal Aid System, organized by the “Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine” Project together with the Coordination Centre for Free Legal Aid Providing. In addition, Roman acted as a moderator of the third day of training.

Another trainer of this module was Borys Danevych, partner of Danevych.Law, co-chair of the Health Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, founder of Life Sciences Talks.

During the training, the participants were supervised by the Expert of the Tomorrow’s Lawyer Program Dmytro Kukhnyuk, Managing Partner of Melnyk, Kukhnyuk and Partners, candidate of judicial sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Notary and Enforcement Process, and the Bar of the Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University.

The following were the key elements of the module:

  • Leadership in the legal community.
  • Change management.
  • Mentoring and coaching.
  • Independence of the lawyer. Continuous professional development.
  • Ethics of the lawyer in communication in the legal community.

The third module program was improved by trainers and experts of the module with the participation of the Program team based on the feedback obtained from the Program participants in 2017 and 2018.

“Tomorrow’s Lawyer” is a powerful network of lawyers uniting opinion leaders in the legal profession, who provide legal assistance in accordance with the highest ethical standards, act as agents of change in society and leaders in the professional community.

The “Tomorrow’s Lawyer” Program was launched in 2016 and first implemented within the “Quality and Accessible Legal Aid” Project, carried out by the Canadian Bureau for International Education with the support of the Government of Canada in cooperation with the Legal Aid Coordination Centre. It is currently being implemented and developed with the support of the US Embassy’s Law Enforcement Section in Ukraine, the “Tomorrow’s Lawyer” NGO, in partnership with the Ukrainian Bar Association and the Bar Association of Legal Aid Providers.
