A Program Participant Conducts Training In The Field Of Prevention And Countervailing Domestic Violence

At the invitation of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Tamara Bugayets, a participant of the “Tomorrow’s Lawyer” Program, conducted a series of seminars on “Strengthening interagency response in the area of ​​countering and preventing domestic violence and gender-based violence: implementing new legislation and updating the existing mechanisms for its implementation“.

Among the participants of the seminar were the specialists in the field of prevention and counteraction violence, in particular: guardianship authorities, children’s services, national police, Free legal Aid Centres, social services for families, children and youth centres, shelters for victims and public organizations.

Within the framework of the seminar, the participants reviewed the implementation of changes to the legislation on prevention and counteraction to domestic violence: the definition of new terms, the range of persons subject to the legislation, preventive measures and assistance to the victims, the possibility of forming a Single State Register of Domestic Violence and Gender-Based Violence , authorities of actors involved in the prevention and response to domestic violence and gender-based violence, special measures to counter domestic violence and responsibility in the field of prevention and counteraction to domestic violence, in particular recent amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine.

Tamara Bugayets has completed a course for trainers within the framework of the Project “Building Police Capacity to Ensure the Rights and Best Interests of the Child”, which is currently being implemented by the All-Ukrainian Public Centre “Volunteer” with the support of the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Agriteam Canada Conalting Ltd.
