The Sixth Group Has Passed the Second Module

On March 16th – 18th, 2018, the sixth group of the “Tomorrows Lawyer” Program passed the second module devoted to the interaction of the lawyer with the court and building collegiate relations within the justice system.

During the module participants worked with complex and toxic communication. Attorneys also learned to establish effective communication with procedural opponents, the skills of effective litigation and negotiation within the Harvard model. Participants also discussed the issue of corruption and conflict of interests and sought ways to counteract it.

The module was opened by the Director of the Tomorrow’s Lawyer Program Andriy Vyshnevskyy and Denis Bugay, the ex-President of the Ukrainian Bar Association. Also the module was visited by the Chairman of the Bar Association of Legal Aid Providers Viktoria Mitko, program manager and legal adviser to the US Embassy in Ukraine Olena Kustova.

In addition, a judge of the Supreme Court, Oleksandra Yanovska, held a separate training session on the topic of an effective litigation.

During the module the participants worked with coaches Iryna Gluschenkova and Vitali Kasko. They were accompanied by the experts of the Program Yulia Lisova and Andriy Kostin.

It was extremely pleasant to hear responses to the results of the second module from the fifth group of the second hundred:

“We had the opportunity to look at ourselves during the second module.  Both during exercises on conducting of negotiations, and training of the judicial speeches. Perhaps this was one of the most effective tools: the “mirror” that you gave us will allow us to work on ourselves further,” — participant of the seventh group shared his impressions.

“For three days we have been absorbing so much useful information that even if we use only part of it, we will become the best lawyers. And most importantly, I want to share my knowledge and skills with colleagues. Keeping this to myself is a crime,” — said the lawyer participating in the Program.

In 2018, the “Tomorrow’s Lawyer” Program is being implemented by the Ukrainian Bar Association and the Bar Association of Legal Aid Providers, with the support of the United States Embassy and The Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine Project funded by the Government of Canada and implemented by the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE).
