Attorney’s Professional Culture: Criteria and Approaches – Volodymyr Suschenko
As part of a series of publications dedicated to the professional ethics which is an integral part of the first module of the “Tomorrows Lawyer” Program, we would like to offer you an article on the issues of professional culture of advocates nowadays.
Professional ethics serves the foundation, walls and roof of the professional culture of any advocate. The stronger it is, the better a lawyer can build his professional career, the more responsible he acts towards his professional responsibilities.
The legal profession has always been characterized by the existence of common professional interests and corporate spirit (unity of professional lawyers and their sense of belonging to a professional corporation). Implicitly, the relevant principles link the intra-corporate relations as well. It is desirable that a lawyer could become an example of professional unity, mutual support and respect, tolerance and respect for corporate culture. Joint profession, adequate education and training of lawyers will allow them to find a common professional language, save time, effectively and efficiently solve complex problems or legal conflicts on the basis of mutually beneficial cooperation.
An important condition for proper professional legal culture should be, above all, a high level of personal professional responsibility for the proper performance of his\her obligations in providing legal assistance.
