G11 Completed The Second Module Of The Program
On August 16-18, 2019, the eleventh group (G11) of the third season of the Tomorrow’s Lawyer Program, completed the second training module.
Lawyers carried on improving effective communication. This time within the court and justice system.
The trainers of the module were Svitlana Savchuk, a certified business trainer with 15 years of experience in business education and Peter Jarosz, Legal Adviser to the US Department of Justice at the US Embassy in Ukraine.
Svitlana Savchuk’s assistant was Tamara Bugaiets, a graduate of the second season of the Program. While Roman Shpyrka, a graduate of the second season of the Program, assisted Peter Jarosz with his training functions.
During the training, the participants were supervised by Dmytro Kuhnyuk, candidate of judiciary science, associate professor of the department of the notary and executive process and advocacy of the Kyiv National University after Taras Shevchenko, expert of the “Tomorrow’s Lawyer” Program.
The following were the key elements of the module:
- Establishing effective communication with procedural opponents. Ethics of communication.
- Handling toxic and complicated communication.
- Conflict management and communication with an aggressive counterpart.
- Direct and cross examination of witnesses.
- Strong advocate’s speech in court.
The program of the second module was improved by trainers and experts of the module with the participation of the Program team based on the feedback obtained from the Program participants in 2017 and 2018.

The “Tomorrow’s Lawyer” Program was launched in 2016 and first implemented within the “Quality and Accessible Legal Aid” Project, carried out by the Canadian Bureau for International Education with the support of the Government of Canada in cooperation with the Legal Aid Coordination Centre. It is currently being implemented and developed with the support of the US Embassy’s Law Enforcement Section in Ukraine, the “Tomorrow’s Lawyer” NGO, in partnership with the Ukrainian Bar Association and the Bar Association of Legal Aid Providers.
