The Second Group of the Tomorrow’s Lawyer Program Launched Third Training Module in Kharkiv

On August 27, 2017, the second group of participants of the “Tomorrow’s Lawyer” Program (the Program) launched a third module in Kharkiv, devoted to an extremely important and relevant topic – “Communication in the Legal Community”.

“Sheila Rédel, a Canadian Bar Association Professional Development Expert, who is the developer of the “Tomorrow’s Lawyer” Program, emphasized at its beginning that “the lawyers should start training with a warm heart and open mind”.

“I wish the participants of the Program to approach the topic of the third module with a warm heart and open mind, because this module is devoted to the development of the lawyer’s community and the future of legal profession”, – with these exact words the manager of the Ukrainian-Canadian project “Affordable and High Quality Legal Assistance in Ukraine” Mrs. Oksana Kikot welcomed the participants of the third module of the “Tomorrow’s Lawyer” Program. Also, the third module participants were addressed by the Chairwoman of NGO “Bar Association of Legal Aid Providers” Mrs Viktoriya Mitko.

The professional trainer Mrs Iryna Gluschenkova guided the participants through course of the study while the third day of training was moderated by the expert Mrs. Julia Lisova.

The program experts were accompanied by Mrs Olga Zhukovska, Mr. Andriy Kostin and Mr. Volodymyr Sushchenko with the support of Mrs Ivanna Ibragimova, Chief Expert of the Ukrainian-Canadian Project “Affordable and High Quality Legal Assistance in Ukraine”.

The three-day training devoted to the topic “Communication in the Legal Community” covered the following key spheres: leadership and development; management styles and mentoring; interest-based negotiations. The participants of the training also elaborated the topics of constant professional development and ethics in communication between lawyers.

Participants noted that the adaptive leadership concept caused them to consider changing their own behavior: “Only at this training, I realized that the leadership is not about being in charge, but about self-growth, the expansion of activities and learning to see things outside the box”.

“It is extremely valuable that the training takes place in the form of classes and discussions. For example, during the third module, it became clear to me that my theoretical knowledge on the topic of interest-based negotiations still needs to be improved. In fact, this was our main focus during the third module”, – said the participant of the Program.

“After exploring new faces of mentoring, I knew for sure that now I am ready to build my own team. And from now on, I know how to be a good mentor for every assistant in my lawyer’s career”, – said the participant of the Program.
