Graduates of the Program Taught Lawyers of Lugansk Region to Protect Rights of IDPs

The graduates of the first hundred of the “Tomorrow’s Lawyer” Program Vira Mykhailenko and Yanina Osmak, at the invitation of the Norwegian Refugee Council and the Luhansk Regional Bar Council, trained lawyers in Lugansk region on “Protecting the Rights of Internally Displaced Persons (IBO) and persons affected in the conflict in Eastern Ukraine: the application of the practice of the European Court of Human Rights in the national legal process”.

Vira Mikhailenko highlighted common issues related to the protection of human rights in armed conflicts, in particular, the approaches of the European Court of Human Rights, the application of the European Convention on Human Rights in armed conflicts, and the issue of jurisdiction; led the practice of the ECHR on various issues related to the protection of human rights in armed conflicts. Yanina Osmak presented the legal peculiarities of pension payments during an armed conflict, reviewed the practice of the ECHR and national legal proceedings in these matters.
