Svitlana Sergeyeva Elected Deputy Chair Of The Committee On Mediation In The Odessa Region

A graduate of the “Tomorrow’s Lawyer” Program Svitlana Sergeyeva appointed Deputy Chair of the Committee on Mediation and Other Alternative Dispute Settlements of the Bar Council of the Odessa Region.

One of the main tasks of the Committee is to promote the awareness of lawyers in  mediation, research and formation of the peculiarities of the work of the mediator, as well as the active use of this type of alternative dispute resolution in practice. The following measures are planned to be introduced by the Committee:

“The Committee’s working plan includes a series of events aimed at familiarizing lawyers with mediation, with the benefits of negotiation skills for lawyers, and informing colleagues about the role of the lawyer in the mediation procedure. Also, it is planned to conduct workshops aimed at developing the mediation skills for lawyers who have completed basic education”.

The “Tomorrow’s Lawyer” Program was developed during 2016-2017 with the support of the project “Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine” with an expert contribution from the Canadian Bar Association. The “Tomorrow’s Lawyer” Program is being implemented by the Ukrainian Bar Association and the Bar Association of Legal Aid Providers, with the support of the United States Embassy and The Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine (QALA) Project funded by the Government of Canada and implemented by the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE).
